Casual sex causes depression

It is common for many people to have fantasized at least once in their life about having sex with a stranger without any kind of bond. It would seem like one of those happy ending, fun-filled fantasies associated with a certain level and social status. However, the reality seems to be a bit different. What would you think if we told you that casual sex can in fact increase your depression levels and the feeling of emptiness the next morning?

Lo studio del Journal of Sex Research

Today's society has sold us sex as something that can be safely disconnected from love life, justifying it as the primitive part of the brain, the instincts, the animal part of each of us, and has associated sex with parties, youth, alcohol and every kind of fun. However, a recent study published in the Journal of Sex Research not only disproves this, but also surprisingly found that the side effect of sex is in most cases the opposite of what is expected..

"It was to be imagined, women have always been sentimental, sex without ties is a thing for men!". This claim might come to mind to many, but the ironic thing about this study is that it found that the levels of depression and stress after casual intercourse increase not so much in women but in men.

Despite this, before someone tries to defend themselves by trying to deny it, it must be emphasized that this characteristic does not appear suddenly after a night of sex with a stranger, but in those people who already have a history of depression and who in an unconscious way they usually seek short-term relationships to try and fill an emotional void.

Following this study carried out on young people between 18 and 25, the experts determined that when young they are going through a phase of high emotional sensitivity looking for relationships in which to obtain casual sex to free themselves from stress, but these not only do not give satisfaction, but also alarmingly increase the levels of depression and anxiety, giving rise to negative and self-destructive thoughts.

When sex arouses feelings of satisfaction and stability

The positive part of all this study is that when these young people develop positive relationships and wait about two to three weeks before having sex gain a greater degree of stability and satisfaction which even extends to relationships that exceed one year in duration.

Sex can be fun and healthy as long as rationality and instinct are reconciled. As much as the modern world pushes us to have casual intercourse, I believe that when we include the sentimental component, tastes and thought in the carnal act, this can be much more satisfying and a more complete experience for both parties without it. no one feels like a mere sexual object.
