Destroyed by work: alarm bells

Unfortunately, it is not always easy to follow the teachings of Confucius, who once said "Do what you love and you won't work a single day of your life". In fact, not even noticing certain signs that we are destroyed by work is enough to make us question our attitude from a professional point of view.

Work is a very influential factor in our life. It brings great doses of fulfillment and happiness, and even well-being, if we are comfortable; but it can also bring about the opposite if we are perpetually stressed. Below, we identify some alarm bells that can arise when work is configured more as a sacrifice than a pleasant activity.

How to know if you are destroyed by work

A great deal of scientific studies claim that job happiness is not only good for the employee. Being calm at work allows for higher performance, as well as good results for the business or organization.

However, it is not always easy to adapt to a job. There are many factors to consider. For example, it is important that our work is valued, which brings large doses of motivation and greater commitment.

Being destroyed by work is an unpleasant situation. It should be remembered that we spend many hours a day in our profession. If we are not happy, it will be better to change or, at least, understand what happens in order to improve some aspects. To find out if this is happening to you too, it is important to keep in mind the following warning signs.

You feel empty when you work

It is not always easy find the perfect job according to ours talent and our skills. Circumstances lead us to accept some jobs out of sheer necessity or simply because they are well paid.

Personal and professional development are intimately linked. For this reason, sometimes it is important to analyze one's emotional state. Only in this way will you know exactly how you feel about your work.

If every morning you wake up with a sad and pained pout, without wanting to go to work and there you feel like a robot that every day carries out its tasks in an automated way, you should ask yourself questions, investigate and explore for yourself. If it is somewhere in between, perhaps you could do something to improve. Think about it.

You don't feel good at work

Sometimes we have to put up with clothes that we don't like at all. Others, rigid and unpleasant colleagues. Whatever the case may be, if the working context gives you a feeling of discomfort and discomfort, perhaps you are letting yourself be destroyed or you are already destroyed by work.

The leadership of a superior affects the happiness and growth of the worker. If your boss does not seek the well-being of his employees, it is normal for arguments, problems to appear and there is little empathy among workers. And this, in the long run, compromises the level of general and individual well-being.

Think about why this is happening and what you can do, as far as possible, to improve. It goes without saying that most of the time you will not be able to change what is happening around you, but you will be able to change the way you handle this situation

Stress gets the better of you

Stress, taken to the extreme, is a common problem of our times. Although in the right measure it is a defense mechanism that can be positive, when it gets worse in duration and quantity it can cause various diseases.

Health is key to being at least comfortable in your workplace. If you feel that you are stressed every day, that you do not reach your goals and that you only think about your occupation, you may not be managing the situation well.

Practice relaxation exercises, learn to organize yourself and, above all, a disconnect from work when you are at home… it is essential! If you are unable to do this on your own, consult a professional.

It is very important to feel valued at a working level. The employee who knows he is doing a good job and is rewarded for it exhibits a high degree of personal satisfaction and, of course, better performance.
