Rowing with dumbbell: Execution
The starting position sees the athlete with the right knee resting on the bench, the left foot resting on the ground, the left hand resting on the bench to help balance and the right hand holding a dumbbell with a neutral grip. The weight of the body is then supported by the left foot, the right knee and the left arm. The torso is parallel to the floor, the back is in its position of strength, the right arm holding the dumbbell is extended and perpendicular to the floor, while the right shoulder blade is abducted. The execution consists in adding the shoulder blades and performing an extension of the right shoulder, accompanied by a simultaneous flexion of the elbow; all without twisting the torso. The movement ends when the elbow reaches the plane of the body (maximum extension of the shoulder) or when it exceeds it (hyperextension of the shoulder). NB: This exercise is one-sided, and the description refers to the training of the right side.
