This is the oat flake porridge that you can prepare in the summer version with berries or alternatively with strawberries and other seasonal fruit depending on the ingredients you have available.
Sometimes porridge is also called oatmeal. It is prepared with oat flakes or with oat flour, but in our case the oat flakes are the less expensive and more easily available alternative also in the supermarket as well as in organic shops.
In Britain porridge is mainly served in a sweet version for breakfast, accompanied by fruit and jam, but there are also savory versions, to be served as soups for dinner, especially in Slavic countries. Here's how to quickly make breakfast porridge.
Ingredients (for 1 serving)
250 ml of rice or oat milk
40 grams of oat flakes (about 4 or 5 tablespoons)
1 teaspoon of rice malt or other natural sweetener
3 tablespoons of fresh mixed berries
1 tablespoon granola or dried fruit for garnish (optional)
1 pinch of cinnamon or organic vanilla powder
Preparation
La preparation of porridge starting with oat flakes is very simple. For an even healthier and higher fiber version, I recommend choosing i whole grain oat flakes, if possible also organic.
As for fruit, the ideal would be to have them available berries collected directly from you or the strawberries and wild strawberries of your garden, but you can alternatively choose other seasonal fruit at your disposal and according to your tastes, so as to make the porridge always different.
You have two options to make oatmeal porridge. If you want prepare this breakfast the night before for the next morning, simply heat the rice or oat milk (or other vegetable milk of your choice, but plain water is fine too) in a saucepan until it cools. Pour in the oat flakes and your chosen natural sweetener, mix and let it rest until the next morning. You will find breakfast ready, possibly to be heated slightly.
If you want prepare the oatmeal porridge on the spot, pour the chosen vegetable milk and the oat flakes into a saucepan, turn on the stove over low heat and stir from time to time until a thick mixture is formed. Then turn off and let it rest for a few minutes to cool down and to allow the oat flakes to absorb part of the liquid. Also add your chosen natural sweetener.
You choose the texture you prefer varying the cooking and resting times of the oat flakes. When the porridge is ready, all you have to do is pour it into a bowl or bowl for breakfast. Then garnish with berries or other fresh fruit, with muesli, dried fruit and a pinch of vanilla or cinnamon.
