The study conducted by Hana Kahleová, director of the Clinical Research at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine in Washington and recently published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition was conducted on 74 people with type 2 diabetes.
They were randomly assigned two types of diets: one vegetarian, the other conventional anti-diabetes. However, they both caused one similar reduction of subcutaneous fat, while intramuscular fat was significantly reduced by the vegetarian diet and the visceral fat it was only reduced in response to the fruit and vegetable diet.
