Pursuing happiness is a human right. Nevertheless, despite all the freedom we have, many people continue to feel trapped in misery more total. We believe we are full of problems and goals to achieve, and all this makes us put aside happiness.
Contrary to what we think, however, achieving happiness requires constant commitment. The changes you need to make to achieve this goal are:
Stop procrastinating and focus on the present
“Knowing the true value of time, stealing, seizing and enjoying every moment of it. No idleness, no laziness, no postponement: do not postpone what you can do today until tomorrow ".
-Philip Stanhope-
Planning and preparation is important for achieving a goal. However, we must not waste too much time thinking about what we will do: it is better to take action and immediately implement the necessary strategies to achieve our goal.
Even the most apparently complex jobs are easy once we get to work. It may seem strange to you, but as you finish your schedule and the stress subsides, you will begin to be happy.
Take care of your body
"Keeping the body healthy is a right ... Without it, we can't keep a strong and alert mind."
-Buddha-
The human body is an extraordinary machine. It can survive in extreme conditions and overcome many challenges. Your body is capable of trying complex emotions, positive and negative, but you have to take care of it to make it work properly.
Take the time to improve the health of your body, it will be the most important change in achieving happiness.
Just get some exercise, eat healthy, and pay attention to your mind and feelings.
Identify what makes us happy
“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from our actions ”.
-Dalai Lama-
The reasons that generate happiness change from one person to another. They are influenced by your dreams, your goals, your abilities and your desires.
If you are not sure at this time what makes you happy, don't worry. Millions of people are in the same state of uncertainty.
Reserve some time just for yourself, take a pen and paper and analyze what you need to achieve happiness. Maybe it would be good for you to travel, start a family or get involved in a social cause.
Each person is different, so your goals will not be the same as those of others. When you understand what you want, go into action!
Getting rid of what hurts us
“Surround yourself with the right people to understand what you are worth. There are too many bad people in the world, you don't need to be your own worst enemy ”.
-Lucy Hale-
We all tend to surround ourselves with people, things and situations that we find negative. Many of these do not allow us to develop our maximum potential, but change can be scary.
From the mortgage you can no longer pay to that friend who only seeks you out when he needs help, everything hurts us.
Instead of wasting time and energy on these things, go out with friends who make a positive contribution to your life, try to eliminate the problems that hurt you, and to breathe more freely.
Enjoy the good times
“Be happy now. This is your life ”.
-Omar Khayyam-
Have you ever noticed that happy people take the time to live slowly? They enjoy every moment that life gives them: a walk, a sunset, an afternoon with friends or cuddling their pet.
One of the secrets of happiness is to breathe deeply, focus on what we have and enjoy it.
These moments will remain forever in our memory, and will fill the space with your sweetest memories, if you allow it.
Doing what we are passionate about
“My mission in life is not simply to survive, but to thrive; and do it with passion, compassion, humor and style "
-Maya Angelou-
Take some time to develop a passion or pastime, and in addition to being happy you will get these benefits:
- You will have less time to doubt yourself and your abilities
- You will develop greater self-confidence, thanks to the skills you will acquire
- Seeing the results of your effort will make you happy
- You will be able to socialize with people who have the same interests as you
- Your energy will be channeled and you will experience less stress.
Be passionate about something! It doesn't matter what it is. The important thing is to live life with passion and full of desire to do.
