Letter to those preparing for a competition

Last update: April 18, 2020

Maybe you were studying up to two minutes ago for a competition and you took a break or maybe you have finally closed one of the many books because you have studied enough for today. Or maybe it's none of this, you were just mulling over that complex concept that haunts you, like a fly buzzing around you, and you stumbled upon your computer or cell phone by chance.

Whatever the reasons that led you to open this article, the important thing is that we met. Call it chance, fate or whatever you like. I will only ask you one favor: take a few minutes to read this letter. After that, you can go back to your routine and ignore it, or maybe save it and go back to reading it when you need it. The use you decide to make of it is up to you. I only ask you for an opportunity ... will you grant me it?

Letter to those who are preparing for a competition, to a brave one

Dear competitor, if you are reading these lines it is because you have decided to go ahead. First I want to thank you. How come? Because your time is golden. In fact, time is an integral part of your work - perhaps the most important - the pillar on which all your struggle is founded. How could I not thank you?

But now comes the most important part, read carefully:

I admire you! I do, and a lot. You are the clear example of effort and constancy, of sacrifice, of all that it means to fight for a dream.

Every morning you wake up knowing that every extra day is actually one less day, for better or for worse. For good, because the path to your goals is getting shorter and shorter; bad, because this means that there is less and less time to assimilate the concepts. Your dark circles remind you, but also the days canceled on the calendar and the succession of study topics.

I admire you for all your work, but mostly because you are a brave person. Which doesn't mean you don't have fears, doubts, even moments when you're fed up and want to screw it up. Despite this, go ahead, with strength, with desire and above all with passion. Indeed, it is precisely in the grayest days that you try even harder not to give up, to prove to yourself that you can do this and much more. Believe me, all of this is admirable.

I admire you because to walk this path you have given up many others. And it wasn't easy, although hope has guided you. No one knows better than you what it feels like to have to give up an evening with friends, an invitation to the cinema that will end with a dinner, a weekend on the beach or in the mountains or, simply, two more hours to spend with the family. . Your sacrifices are numerous, so many are the conflicts with yourself that you have to face to convince yourself, in the end, that the best company in this phase is your study program ...

I admire you, because you juggle to match daily life with studying, because with your attitude you are building your success and because you have made concentration and organization your best subjects.

Maybe others don't understand the color scheme you used to underline the most important topics, or the hundreds of notes pinned on slips of paper, post-its and the margins of books… but it doesn't matter. Your language is secret, your mind knows this and knows where to focus to reconstruct an elaborate lesson starting from a minimal indication.

Don't give up, the competition is getting closer and closer

I admire you for all this and much more. For your dedication, for the nights spent in white and the mornings between bureaucracy, protocols, authors and theories. For the way you bet on yourself. For this, don't give up. Don't forget that the most important part of the word attitude is you.

Don't let boredom take over and override motivation. Remember every day why you started, what your goal is and above all how you will walk the chosen path. Most importantly, believe in yourself. Days spent indoors are days invested in your dreams, don't forget that.

Study, review, strive ... any verb is fine if it serves to push you to bring out the best in you. And if for some reason you don't succeed on the first try, don't throw in the towel. Everything you have studied is now imprinted, do not let it escape from your mind, strengthen it, continue to plant seeds that make the roots of your knowledge stronger. And don't give up.

Don't forget about yourself though. Don't stop taking care of yourself along the way. Eat healthy, disconnect from time to time, play sports and rest. Only then will you get enough energy to keep going. Because we are what we do.

Now, dear competitor, I give you one last thought.

Every day is a new opportunity. A challenge to keep fighting for your dream.

Don't get overwhelmed by discouragement and boredom. Go out in search of new ambitions, goals and strategies. Bad days happen to everyone. Your strength lies in continuing to believe in it in the saddest days. When you have to strive to find the will to continue.

Do not give up!

Do it for yourself, because you want it, because it is your dream, your goal, your passage towards self-realization. Because even if you don't believe it, a contest is a demonstration of self-love. Have you ever thought about it?

Do not give up!

One day, then another and another ... give your best. One hundred percent.

You are an apprentice, but also a master. Each passing day is one more step of knowledge.

Don't give up because if you struggle, one day you will reach your dream.

Good Luck!
