Have you ever experienced that wonderful feeling that invades us when someone helps us, doing it with the heart and with love, without expecting anything in return? It is certainly one of the most rewarding feelings we can have, because it makes us feel close to others.
Similarly, the feeling that invades us after helping those in need, without expecting anything in return, is sometimes even better than what we feel when the opposite happens. Do not hesitate, therefore: pour your whole heart into what you give to others. The reward will be much greater than what you would have gotten by acting selfishly.
Put your heart into what you do
Doing things with the heart is good, not only for the recipient, but also for the giver. Giving something without waiting for it to come back has extraordinary consequences. One of the first is to feel satisfied with ourselves and this, of course, leads to a strong increase in self-esteem. An increase in self-love that makes us more confident.
“Gratitude, like certain flowers, fails to bloom at great altitudes. Rather, it flourishes in the good land of the humble. "
-Jose Marti-
When you do something for someone you love, don't do it thinking about the benefit it will bring you in the future. If you do, you will not put your heart into it, but selfishness. In fact, very often the greatest reward for our actions is knowing that we are doing someone good.
In most cases, people will know how to value your gesture and, in one way or another, the good will come back to you. However, we must act with humility and help those who deserve it, because only this will make us aware of the true value of life.
Be grateful for what others do for you
The benefits of putting our hearts into what we give and do are also reflected in our ability to value the efforts others make for us. Being grateful for every favor we receive is always good, because we will never know how many sacrifices the other person has made to smooth the way.
If we all stopped to think about how many things people around us do to make our lives easier, we would certainly find it less and less difficult to appreciate the value of small things and daily gestures. It is precisely these that remind us that we too must help others, just as others help us.
"You can only see well with the heart: the essential is invisible to the eye."
-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry-
Stop thinking that the reward must always be material, because being the reason for someone's happiness, even for just a moment, is one of the best feelings. And few things can fill us with joy like that full and lasting awareness. Think about it: isn't it true that when we struggle to achieve something, we feel more proud of the obstacles we have overcome along the way than of the goal we have reached?
The reward will be sweeter if it is unexpected
Realizing all of this will help us truly open up to others. As the French writer Flaubert said, “the heart is a wealth that is neither sold nor bought, but given as a gift”. In this sense, a reward like the one we get when a person opens his heart to us or when we know we can open ours without fear, is much deeper and more lasting than a material reward.
For this reason, it is good to be inspired by the people who love us, because we know that they only care about our well-being. The aim must always be to give the best of us: only in this way will we be valued for who we are, and not for what we have or offer. It is in this way that we earn the affection of others, offering in turn a strong and true affection and love.
"Find the reward of doing good for good."
-Mahabharata-
Don't hesitate, put your heart into what you do. You will feel more satisfied and the reward will be a thousand times greater.
