How would you define yourself? Are you people with wings or those who take root? Sometimes it is not easy to be in favor of one or the other, of static or change. Life is not black or white, our existence is full of nuances, of small circumstances that lead us towards one path or another.
Sometimes we feel the indefinable desire for spread our wings and escape who we are, from what surrounds us. However, not all of us are able to do this, because each of us has more or less deep roots that prevent us from moving at all. This change requires a lot of determination and is by no means easy to achieve.
What is better then? The static or the change?
The truth is that there is no answer to this question, it all depends on the circumstances. Vital moments in which we should choose whether to drop anchor or set sail for new routes, decisive moments in which we must use a lot of courage.
Vine of wings and vine of roots
There are those who cannot stand static, stability. These people look up and find an open horizon; they feel they must go further, in search of other purposes, of further dreams to be achieved and with which to fill a hungry heart that is almost never satisfied.
They are people who do not get along with the routine. They rebel and advance on their own path leaving people behind, memories, happiness and even sadness. A life with wings does not always offer true happiness, but it creates opportunities to seek its true essence. Maybe you know someone like that.
And what about people with roots? Sometimes we describe them as conformists, as personalities who seek static as a synonym for safety and stability. They remain there where there are no changes or unexpected events or novelties to deal with. Only routine and a serene calm in which to build a life in accordance with your values.
Who will be happier? The one that always takes flight or the one that puts its roots deeper and deeper? Certainly neither, because it is precisely in the balance of these two dimensions where the true meaning is found. People who leave and who only yearn for change and movement do not enjoy a normal life, their existence is always full of questions to which answers are rarely found.. They always observe and always question themselves.
On the other hand, those who do not feel the need to take risks are capable of facing a life of suffering for fear of change. It is better to remain silent and not ask questions so as not to discover that there are other possibilities, other options with which, perhaps, they could be happier. It is by no means easy, because a change it presupposes a risk and an unbearable uncertainty.
Experience flight and allow yourself to take root
“It is difficult to fall in love with those who have wings, but it is equally difficult to drag those who have already taken root”.
What is really worth in this life is allowing yourself to try, experiment with maturity and wisdom by understanding that life is marked by continuous change. We must be people ready to face all the tides that come and go: sometimes they bring us good things and others not so much.
The important thing is to allow ourselves to experience any emotion. When it happens, when you feel that happiness is enveloping you with its sincere breath, hold on to it and put your roots so that it lasts over time and does not escape your hands. Be brave and take the risk of stability, of stillness. However, if you later feel that happiness is tinged with suffering, take that reality boldly and take flight with maturity and integrity.
Your happiness will always be essential in this life and a healthy life is woven with wings and roots to the same extent. The secret is balance, this simple wisdom.
