Gray people turn off the lights

Last update: December 16, 2015

Gray people discourage the dreams of others, they judge, humiliate, lie, they want to create doubts in others. They move through life with the intention of subtracting, not adding up. They utter phrases that hurt and don't care how they make you feel.

Gray people turn off the lights, and one of them can be yours. How come? It is not known well. There are people who, instead of turning their pain into caring for themselves, choose to discourage others so that their world is more in tune with who they really are. Because you can see neither their light nor their darkness, only the harmful effect they have on you.

There are many ways to nullify others: take away value from everything they do, ridicule their dreams by always advising them to throw in the towel and, in this way, leave a trail of emotional corpses in tune with their "bad energy".

The world is full of noble and wonderful people who vibrate with life, even if they were injured. They refuse to become someone they are not. Sadly though, a bright person can meet a lot of those gray people along the way and can end up dying.

Maybe when they go out, they become frustrated people who repeat the same behaviors that, once, knocked them down altogether. It is a chain of negativity from which we must prevent being reached.

If you are a bright person, perhaps others want to turn you off

What are bright people like? Many of us would say that they are those people who "snatch a smile", moderate, but who put effort into the problems that surround them. Without worry as protagonists, but who end up becoming one in the most intimate corners of many souls who come to them because of their empathy and their character. Bright people convey peace.

Above all, bright people do not carry a backpack full of resentment, judgment, cutting or humiliating comments on their shoulders. Bright people have dreams, they adapt to the environment around them without allowing social conventions to cancel them and, above all, they do not want to end their life with unfulfilled dreams, but with experiences to remember.

If they perceive that another person is also fighting for the same thing, they do not compete and do not envy them, they simply rejoice at the idea of having a travel companion. Bright people support and encourage others because their happiness makes them happy.

"I consider more courageous whoever wins their desires than whoever wins their enemies, because the most difficult battle is the one with oneself".

-Aristotle-

Your best weapons to preserve your light

To prevent your light from going out when difficulties arise or when someone tries to turn it off at a precise moment in your life, you can adopt some strategies that will help you protect yourself:

  • Ignore: don't face them, don't try to prove anything. If you hear comments that are meant to get you down, don't waste your energy convincing them that they are wrong. You need those energies to go your own way.
  • Surround yourself with people who share your values: in life you will meet very different people, but if you meet someone who has the same values as you, the road will no longer be so tiring.
  • Get away from the dramas: Get away from people who make a drama out of everything, even the most insignificant details in your life. Don't let the principles held by others end up taking over you and what you do.
  • Practice humor: gray people do not tolerate humor, because everything is a sign of danger and negativity to them, so refuse not to show off a smile. Don't allow society to divide what humor unites.
    • Believe in the value of your ideas: Ezra Pund said that “if a man is not willing to fight for his ideas, either they are worth nothing or he is worth nothing”. If you believe in your ideas and think that they are worth something because they will allow us to live with more freedom and joy, never doubt them.
    • Don't measure success with money, fame, or stability: in this life there are no answers, there are only stories. Make yours meaningful to you, without measuring yourself against established parameters.
    • If someone judges you, lend them your shoes: never forget that there will always be someone willing to judge what you have done wrong in life, without worrying at all about the circumstances you have had to face. However, those people maybe don't count for anything in your life and if not, why do you keep letting them treat you like that?
    • Trust your charm: trust your charm and your way of doing things, but always with humility and without thinking that there is nothing more to learn.

"Charm is what you have until you start believing"

    -Simone de Beauvoir-

What to do if you feel your light is going out

Luckily, in this life we are not just what happens to us or what we think we are. Personality is built during life and it is true that some experiences change us, but only as a change that transforms, not as something immutable and fixed.

If you've lost enthusiasm for everything and someone you've met hurt you more than you ever imagined, you have the right to feel weird and sad for a while, but if you lose your enthusiasm and abandon your dreams it will be difficult to find the meaning of your existence.

It would be wonderful to try again. Do not allow anyone to quench your enthusiasm, your little ways of savoring life, which is unique. Don't give gray people the satisfaction of seeing you lose the meaning of your existence. They have already ruined theirs, of life, and you should therefore ask yourself: do you want to become one of them?
