Trust is a glass bridge, fragile and transparent, which elevates our life. It has likely taken a lot of time and effort to build, which is why it is more than a valuable asset.

However, while it takes a lot of work and brings a lot of happiness, trust is often destroyed in seconds by our carelessness, our selfish acts and our self-interested attitudes.

When a feeling as important as trust starts to shatter, something inside of us dies. This happens because the lie questions a thousand truths, causing us to question ourselves even about the events that we thought were most honest.

Lies have short legs and a long nose

Even if the lie can reach unsuspected limits, the truth always ends up coming to the surface. As they say, one recognizes first a liar than a lame, since his words and actions have no solid basis.

However, the fact that everything falls on its own weight does not mean that the impact is not strong and painful. In fact, the opposite usually happens and that the lie and the betrayal presuppose a before and an after in our life.

It is common to hear that "if they betray you once, it is the fault of the other, but if they betray you twice, it is your fault". What is certain is that this statement is true, but it is equally true that it must be taken with a grain of salt.
