Freedom is the most precious treasure that human beings possess. It is our responsibility to respect it, enjoy it and prevent anyone from taking it away from us. We all have the right to preserve and care for it.

How can we dare to think that we have the right to steal even the smallest part of freedom from our neighbor?

If we have our freedom, it can never be at the cost of that of our neighbor. Let's think carefully, why every time we appropriate something that is not ours, our dignity suffers.

"Freedom, Sancho, is one of the most precious gifts that the heavens have granted to men: the treasures all found on earth or covered by the sea cannot be equaled: and for freedom, as for honor , life can be ventured "

-Miguel de Cervantes-

The gift of freedom

The gift of freedom is a precious commodity with which all human beings on our planet are born.

Nevertheless, the misuse that too many people make of freedom makes it necessary to use laws to protect it, even if, often, it ends up being muddied by the same people who had sworn to defend it.

The gift of freedom should never be confused with the simpler concept of libertinage. A person who considers himself "free" has no right to trample others in the name of the so-called "freedom".

This means that the gift of freedom, granted since birth to all beings who come into the world on this planet, should not be considered with futility.

Respect is a concept that must always be on top of everything, so that everyone can live together claiming to be free. We must therefore not consider freedom as a lack of respect for others.

"I hurt you because I am free and I do what I want". How many times have you heard this phrase? Millions of people pronounce it in order to do what they want, without knowing that, in reality, they are not making use of their freedom, but are stealing the freedom of the people they harm.

Freedom of thought

In reality, we live in a world of laws that leaves little margin for true human freedom.

We must respect others and we need to take the right measures to protect the weak from those who want to trample on the rights of others.

Nevertheless, freedom is not limited to simple movements from one place to another. There is much more to the bottom of our soul and heart. It is enough to know how to search within oneself to find it.

Fortunately, many of us have the freedom to think, love, dream, feel, create ... Even if we live in a society in which we often feel misunderstood, there is a lot we can do within our world.

"I don't know if external freedom will be given to us more than the exact measure in which we have been able, in a given moment, to develop our internal freedom"

-Mahatma Gandhi-

Only when we focus on ourselves and do true self-knowledge exercises can we discover true freedom and all its meanings.

In us, in our truth, in our way of being authentic, in our sincerity with ourselves is where we are free, In the true sense of the word.

Misuse of the word freedom

Nowadays, the word freedom is used in a very arbitrary way: "Freedom to decide", "freedom to act", "fight for freedom", etc.

In reality, in the independence of a territory, in the use of the vote or in the election of a political representative, there is no real use of freedom, as many of these issues are corrupt and decided in advance.

Indeed, usually these are actions that affect our true freedom, since they make us choose between different ways of being, thinking or belonging, but they do not offer us the authentic freedom that belongs to us.

True freedom is within ourselves.

The greatest exercise of freedom lies in our sincerity and in the value of truly being how we feel. And it doesn't matter what country we live in or what our passport says, because those are legal necessities that don't have to sabotage our true way of being. They are just limits.

Always remember this sentence: "your freedom ends where mine begins". We can be ourselves and enjoy life, but we could never tell others how they should be, what they should belong to or what they should think.
